Rural Ohioans, Farmers Support Higher Fuel-Efficiency Standards for Automakers (2007-05-08)
Ohio Farmers Union President Joe Logan says a new poll by the National Environmental Trust shows Ohio farmers would be willing to pay more up-front for a more fuel-efficient truck, because they'd save money over time at the pump. With gas prices expected to hit record highs (again), many are saying it's time to force higher fuel-efficiency standards on automakers.
Sen. Sherrod Brown Plans More Regulation for Non-Bank Lenders, $300 Million in Foreclosure Prevention Funds (2007-05-03)
Nearly 1 in 6 Dayton-area homeowners with a sub-prime mortgage are more than 60 days delinquent in their payments, making the Miami Valley one of the starkest examples of Ohio's foreclosure crisis. Nearly 80,000 foreclosures were filed against Ohio homeowners last year. State government has put up some money to help, but Senator Sherrod Brown says a national solution is needed.

Governor Strickland has warned state legislators working on the upcoming budget that Ohio's tax revenues are likely to be far less than predicted. But one area that many legislators never consider cutting is tax expenditures, according to the think tank Policy Matters Ohio.
