President Bush Looking At Changing Conservation Easement Law LARAMIE, WY (wpr) - Farmers and ranchers in Wyoming could get an incentive to create conservation easements. This is when they agree to restrict development on their property and to keep it as a farm or a ranch.
A bill before President Bush would give more tax money back to people in agriculture that do this. The executive director of the Wyoming Stock Growers Agricultural Land Trust, Glenn Pauley, says this may prevent some farmers and ranchers from selling land and subdividing it. Though many are struggling with finding alternative incomes other than subdividing.
Pauley says it is possible to make some income from creating a conservation easement, but usually is not very much.
Wyoming's congressional delegation is supports this bill.
