Navy Petty Officer Quinten Brooks, Kim Bramlage with Good Will Easter Seals and more... August 1, 2010 In the first edition of WYSO Weekend in August we hear from Trotwood-native Navy Petty Officer Quinten Brooks who is serving out in the Arabian Sea on the U.S.S. Truman. Brooks tells Host Jerry Kenney about his decision to join the military, media portrayal of occurrences in Iraq in Afghanistan, why, for him, it is important that you support the troops, and daily life and movie nights on the U.S.S. Truman. "I believe if you've got to be out at sea for so long, the Harry S. Truman is where to be."

Next, we hear Poor Will's Almanack for the sixth week of middle summer.

July 26th marked the 20th Anniversary of the American Disabilities Act. We hear excerpts of President George H.W. Speech during the official signing and an interview with Kim Bramlage about Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley whose mission is to empower people with disabilities and other needs to achieve independence and enhance their lives. Bramlage explains the current opportunities available through the program and how more people with disabilities can be assisted locally.
