PlayAlexandra Ansanelli came to ballet when she was 10 — a relatively late age for a beginning dancer. But the American ballerina went on to soar as a principal dancer in the New York City Ballet and Britain's Royal Ballet.
Now 28 and in her prime, Ansanelli is hanging up her slippers and abandoning the only life she's known for more than a decade. This week, she gave her final U.S. performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
