150th Anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy

Monocacy National Battlefield will host the 150th commemoration of the “Battle that Saved Washington D.C.” July 5 – 13, 2014. There will be living history encampments and artillery, infantry, and cavalry demonstrations. Other special programs including ranger hikes, music concerts, and guest speakers that will take place thought the battlefield. A special museum exhibit, “Honoring Heroism,” which will include the original map of the “Battle of Monocacy” and the “Washington Defenses,” drawn by renowned Confederate cartographer, Jedediah Hotchkiss will be on loan from the Library of Congress for a limited time.
