Siena Poll Finds Gas Prices are New Yorkers # 1 Concern Alex Crichton
ROCHESTER, NY
(2008-05-01)
High gas prices top the list of New Yorker's economic worries these days. Siena Research Institute conducted a poll and found the price at the pump concerned residents more than food, health care, stocks or real estate.
Half of those surveyed said the price of gas is causing them financial hardships. SRI also found that with so much more money going to gas and food, residents are cutting back on dining out, and they're spending less on home and auto repairs.
Four out of five say they'll cut back on vacation spending. More than 9 in 10 expect gas prices to continue to rise.
