Governor Reflects on Year 1
(2009-03-11)
ALBANY, NEW YORK
(WXXI) -
Governor David Paterson reflected on his rather tumultuous first year as governor, when he met with reporters at the Capitol. The governor says he's learned much since he unexpectedly took the job on March 17, 2008, after Eliot Spitzer resigned in disgrace over a prostitution scandal. The governor admits he should have handled the search for a successor to Senator Hillary Clinton differently. But he say despite the many challenges, including the worst economy since the Great Depression and low popularity numbers, he feels "blessed" to have been given the opportunity.
