State Comptroller Monitoring Wall St. Crisis
(2008-09-15)
(WXXI) - New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says it does not appear the worst is over for the troubled financial industry.

DiNapoli was in Rochester Monday to address the state convention of the Public Employees Federation. He spoke to reporters afterward about the bankruptcy of investment banker Lehman Brothers and the sale of Merrill Lynch.

DiNapoli says he and the governor are greatly concerned over what's happening and are monitoring the situation on an hourly basis.

DiNapoli says the big concern is the overall health of the financial markets, since Wall Street accounts for 20 percent of the state's revenues.

DiNapoli says it does not appear that the worst is over.
