Daycare Provider Sentenced ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - A Rochester daycare provider who was convicted of sedating the children in her care will spend the next two years in state prison.

Ana Powers was sentenced Friday after being convicted in July on three felony counts of assault and 10 misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Powers was found guilty of spiking the children's strawberry-flavored milk with over-the-counter cold medicine to sedate them. None of the children are reported to have suffered any lasting harm.

The 59-year-old Powers was arrested after an employee of her in-home daycare notified police. © Copyright 2009, WXXI
