Hillary Clinton Tells NY Delegation to Unite Around Obama
(2008-08-25)
(WXXI) - Hillary Clinton made her first remarks at the democratic convention in Denver to the New York delegation, where she urged supporters to transfer their enthusiasm to Barack Obama.

It was a bittersweet moment as Clinton took to the stage to address the New York delegation, in her first remarks at a convention that could have been hers. New York's Senator seemed determined to show her support for Obama, and urged her supporters, many of whom were chanting her name, to do the same.

"We're gathered here in Denver for a very clear and simple purpose," said Clinton, "To come out of this convention energized, excited and ready to elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States."

Clinton asked her supporters to work as hard for Obama as they had for her. She will formally release her delegates at a special meeting on Wednesday. She admits to being disappointed, but says it's bigger than her now, and the larger issue is to get a democrat in the White House.
