Governor Says DEC Will Be More "Proactive"
(2007-03-26)
(WXXI) - Governor Spitzer had little response Monday to reports in the Sunday "Democrat and Chronicle" which say that development in Victor, New York was allowed to continue in areas contaminated by an unknown source of underground toxic chemical pollution.

Spitzer said that the Departments of Environmental Conservation and Department of Health would be much more "proactive" agencies under his administration.

Still, the governor delayed comment.

The D&C reports that a 15-home subdivision called Rennaisance Ridge is situated atop an area where the state environmental agency has found groundwater contaminated by toxic solvents. The source of the underground toxic plume has never been found.
