Governor Promises Rochester Grads that the State Will Create Jobs
(2009-05-18)
(WXXI) - Governor David Paterson urged the graduates of the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center Monday night to remember where they came from.

Paterson told them to remember their friends, teachers, and anyone who helped them along the way, and to "give it back" to the same community.

Paterson encouraged the graduates to stay in New York State. He told them that state government closed a multi-billion-dollar deficit and can now focus on economic development. Paterson promised the class of 2009 that the state will create jobs in alternative energies, bio-tech, and engineering.

Some 400 students received their certificates of completion at the Eastman Theatre Monday night.

The Rochester Educational Opportunity Center provides short-term vocational and academic training to adults in the greater Rochester area. It's sponsored, in part, by the College at Brockport.
