Eastman Grad wins Grammy Awards ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - Eastman School of Music alumnus Anthony Dean Griffey won two Grammy Awards last night for a recording with the Los Angeles Opera.

The tenor won in the categories of Best Opera Recording and Best Classical Album as part of the cast for the "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahogany." That's a Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht opera in which Griffey sang the role of the anti-hero Jimmy MacIntyre"

Two other musicians connected to Eastman were nominated in the Best Opera Recording category: Professor of Lute Paul O'Dette, and alumna Renee Fleming.
