GM: Delphi Plant Seeks to Expand
(2009-11-04)
(WXXI) - There's hope for the former Delphi plant in Rochester. That's according to General Motors management.

Delphi recently surfaced from bankruptcy, with General Motors Holding buying back the supplier as part of the deal.

Included in that deal are two local plants, in Rochester and Lockport.

Rochester plant manager Neal Evans and GM general manager Bill Shaw say the Lexington Avenue plant can grow through Spark Ignition Direct Injection or S.I.D.I, and Gasoline Direct Injection or G.D.I

"The changes going on today in fuel delivery or fuel system is a change in high pressure systems," says Evans. "We call them F.I.D.I or D.D.I. Those were some of the opportunities that Bill was talking about that if the plant can be competitive we could potentially look at those as areas to expand here but it is a competitive issue here at the plant right now."

Shaw says the transition between the Rochester Plant and the company is what he calls "complete" since last month.
