Record Archive Celebrates Annivesary
(2009-10-28)
(WXXI) - The Record Archive is celebrating 33-1/3 years of business in Rochester Wednesday. The independent music store, known for its off-the-wall commercials, is a favorite among music lovers here and across the country. Fans include Alan Levin, better known as local radio personality Brother Wease.

"Because it's one of the few personality places left in American--no less Rochester," says Levin. "I mean we are chain-restaurant and chain-stored to death. And this is original, it's independently owned, and to me, that's what cities should be made up of."

The Record Archive recently relocated to 33.3 Rockwood Street, with help from a Building Renovation Program grant from the City of Rochester. A store spokesperson says the expansion helps accomodate the store's growing internet business. While the store offers CD's and DVD's, shoppers can still buy a vinyl records there too.
