Tops Pulls Some Zicam Cold Remedies ROCHESTER, NY (WXXI) - Tops Markets says it's pulling a couple of popular cold remedies from its shelves -- after their maker received a warning letter today from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The two products are Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel and Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs. They are: Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, UPC # 73221620101 and Zicam Cold Remedy Nasel Gel, UPC # 73221601012

The warning says people who use those two specific Zicam products could lose their sense of smell -- a condition known as anosmia. The loss of smell could be permanent.

There are 17 other Zicam products that aren't on the list.

Tops says people who have the Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel or Cold Remedy Swabs can return them for a refund. © Copyright 2009, WXXI
