Fate of Henrietta Delphi Facility Unclear
(2009-06-02)
(WXXI) - The fate of a Delphi facility in Henrietta is unclear - despite the firm announcing new plans to help it emerge from bankruptcy on Monday.

Lindsey Williams is the director of corporate communications for Delphi. Williams says plants in Lockport and on Lexington Avenue will be acquired by a GM subsidiary, but that there hasn't been a determination on Delphi's Henrietta Technical Center.

"We are still in discussions with General Motors respect to the Technical Center and the operations there. Obviously with the Rochester plant being sold to General Motors much of the activity that occurs within the Technical Center is relevant to what happens at the manufacturing site."

Delphi's new plan to get out of bankruptcy - which has to be approved by a court - is to break the firm up and sell it off to three players.
GM Components Holding will acquire plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Lockport and Rochester in New York.

A series of more than a dozen plants that have already been idled will be acquired by a new firm, called DPH Holdings Company. Those sites will either be wound down, closed or divested.

What remains of Delphi's world holdings will be purchased by Parnassus Holdings.

Williams says the Henrietta facility would likely be either bought by GM Holdings, or owned by Parnassus and leased to GM.

William said employment decisions about the Lexington Avenue plant will be GM's to make, since GM Holdings will take over operations under the plan. As for the Henrietta Research Center, Williams says he can't say what might happen to jobs there there, because who will ultimately own the facility hasn't been determined.

The bankruptcy emergence plan must be approved by a US Bankruptcy Court. There's a final approval hearing set for July 23.
