Rochester Prefers Romance to Tackle
(2010-02-08)
(WXXI) - Every year, Roberts Communications gauges the reaction Superbowl ads, but this year the advertising firm moved the conversation online, to Facebook.

Over 500 people became fans of the site, and about a hundred people gave their feedback. The result was that Google's Parisian love story ad was the most popular - beating out Betty White's Snickers ad.

But another highly touted ad - Tom Tebow's "Focus on the Family" spot - fell flat, according to Roberts Communications president Bill Murtha. He says the ad didn't resonate with local Facebook users, because it was low-key about its message and directed people to a website.

Murtha says Roberts Communications analyzes reactions to the ads in order to better understand consumers - and to capitalize on the one time of the year when viewers are watching for the ads, instead of tuning them out.
