Forty Authors and Illustrators are Scheduled for Rochester Children's Book Festival
Among the authors will be Linda Sue Park of Rochester. Park says the book festival is one of her favorite days of the year. She says people can talk with authors, who will sign and personalize books for attendees. She also says there are dozens of activities and presentations going on throughout the festival.
Park, who's of Korean descent, was born in Illinois and now makes her home in Rochester. She started writing books because she knew a lot about Korean culture, but very little about Korea the country. For Park, writing is a way of learning.
Park won the coveted Newbery Medal in 2002 for her book A Single Shard. She says that award allowed her to make a living as an author.
The Children's Book Festival takes place from 10 till 4 Saturday at Monroe Community College. Linda Sue Park will be there from 10 till 1.
