Whistleblower Hotline Set to Launch Next Week
The concept was announced about two weeks ago, following federal charges in a high-profile scandal involving contractors at Robutrad. Workers at that firm, and one county employee, are charged with billing the county for work that wasn't being done.
But county Democrats are questioning whether the hotline is coming quickly enough. Thursday, Democratic minority leader Harry Bronson sent a letter to the county executive asking when the hotline would be up and running.
According to county spokesperson Noah Lebowitz, the whistleblower system is being set up by the the two lawyers that were brought on to conduct an internal county investigation into the Robutrad matter, Donald Chesworth and Eugene Welch.
