(WXXI) - City Officials joined developers and their guests in cutting a ribbon Thursday evening to open the reborn High Falls Entertainment Resort. And Mayor Bob Duffy says a housing development may be in the works for the High Falls area in the future.

Mayor Bob Duffy says the city is now working on a housing development for the High Falls area. That could help put a critical mass of people near the High Falls attractions. Duffy says developers are interested in a project on State Street across from the Kodak Office. He says it would probably be at least two years away.

City planners have said housing is the missing piece in making the same kind of success at High Falls that the city has had with the East End district.

Meanwhile, the first three restaurants and clubs are open in the resort center on Commercial Street. More will open next week including the Saddle Ridge Rock and Country Saloon.

Hundreds of people lined upoutside the building waiting for it to open Thursday night. The building once housed Jillians, which failed and closed its doors a year ago.

Nory Management Company bought the building with help from the City's commercial loan fund and leased it to SR Rochester LLC as the operator. That company has substantially renovated the interior and is creating 120 jobs in the complex.
