Greece Police Chief and Deputy Chief Suspended Without Pay
(2009-06-24)
(WXXI) - Greece Police Chief Merrit Rahn and Deputy Chief William Mackin have been suspended without pay from the force.

The Town Board in Greece determined the two violated a number of police department regulations.

Rahn and Mackin were suspended with pay back in April after allegations surfaced the two shredded documents at police headquarters.

Joseph Loszynski, a former State Police Deputy Superintendent, was originally brought in to conduct an internal investigation, after questions were raised on how the department handled cases involving two former officers, Nicholas Joseph, and Gary Pignato.

Joseph was sentenced for up to seven years for his role in a hit-and-run accident.

Pignato was found guilty earlier this month of coercing a woman into having sex in exchange for not pursuing a parole violation.

Town Supervisor John Auberger wants to assure Greece residents that there are many dedicated men and women in the department.

The investigation is continuing.
