Council to Consider Charlotte Marina Designer
Mayor Robert Duffy wants to hire the Michigan firm of Abonmarche to take planning for the marina to the next step. He's asking council to pay Abonmarche an additional 574-thousand dollars for the work. The company did a feasibility study for the project last year. The Michigan firm would work with the local design firm of Passero Associates.
The marina is part of the Port of Rochester plan that's been under development for several years. Phase one calls for a 70 or 80 slip marina on the Genesee River between Portside Drive and Corrigan Street, off Lake Avenue. There's also a phase two that calls for expanding the marina to 120 slips, and opening up space for several hundred residential units and parking spaces along the river front between the marina and Ontario Beach Park.
Phase one would cost around 16-million dollars and take about three years to plan and build.
