Lee Wins 26th Congressional District; Higgins & Slaughter Re-Elected
(2008-11-04)
Chris Lee will fill the seat of retiring Congressman Tom Reynolds.
(wned) - Republican Chris Lee has won the Congressional seat of retiring Republican Rep. Tom Reynolds.

Lee had amassed 56 percent of the vote with 79 percent of precincts reporting in the 26th Congressional District, which runs from the Buffalo suburbs to the outskirts of Rochester.

The contest between Lee and environmental lawyer Alice Kryzan drew plenty of attention and money from the national parties as Democrats sought to widen their majority in congress and Republicans sought to hold on to traditionally conservative districts.

The little-known Kryzan shocked Democratic officials in September when she won the primary over two high-profile, deep-pocketed opponents.

Meanwhile, Democrats Brian Higgins and Louise Slaughter won easy re-election in their respective Congressional Districts. To see results from the Erie County Board of Elections: CLICK HERE
