Jazz Fest Shows Record Attendance
John Nugent, the artistic director of the festival, says the organizers used a variety of tactics to come to the figure of 125,000 attendees at the shows.
Those numbers reflect how many show visits there were, and include guests who saw multiple shows, but Nugent says those numbers beat last year by 4-thousand attendees. Tickets were sold to visitors from 27 states.
Nugent says he's taking a vacation now that the planning and logistics of the festival are done... and then the planning for the 2009 festival, slated for June 12 through 20th, can start.
Nugent says about 2-thousand attendees were polled by Harris Interactive, to determine why people come to the festival, and what factors contributed to that. Those surveys will be analyzed over the coming weeks.
