Rochester International Jazz Festival Set to Start Year Seven
The music starts Friday afternoon at 4:30 with the School of the Arts Jazz Band performing on the outdoor Jazz Street Stage.
Last year, the festival drew an estimated 121,000 fans -- a new record. For Executive Director Mark Iocona, the goal is not topping that attendance figure. He says the goal is doing the best job they can do and helping the local economy.
This year's festival features more than 800 artists performing in 250 concerts over nine days. Tonight's lineup includes Rochester's own Gap Mangione Quintet and Frank Sinatra, Junior, performing at the Eastman Theatre. © Copyright 2009, WXXI
