Brooks Says Ren Square "Will Look Different"
Brooks says she's optimistic about the future of Renaissance Square, despite delays in the project's time line. But she says it's fair to say that the project has been scaled back.
"Everybody will have their own interpretation - some will say it's dramatically scaled back. But I don't think we actually know what it will look like. The team is working, even as we speak, to figure out where do we go from the last design that was on the table. It will look different, but we want this project to be a reality, so we are gonna have to make some tough choices as a project team and as a community."
Brooks says she wants to engage the community about the project, and give people an opportunity to ask questions about the project.
The board that oversees the Main and Clinton Local Development Corporation, which is developing Ren Square, recently voted to force the corporation to file quarterly reports that show how its been spending its funds. They also pushed back the deadline for a preliminary design to April 2009, and allotted another $2 million to come up with new plans. © Copyright 2010, WXXI
