Backstage Pass presents Kathleen Bride
WXXI
|
There isn't a lot of turnover in the Harp Department at the Eastman School of Music---Kathleen Bride is only their third professor in 86 years. She studied extensively with Marcel Grandjany--one of the great harpists of the twentieth century--and now she's imparting her wisdom to a new generation of harpists. The harp may be lovely to listen to, but it can be fiendishly difficult to play. Kathleen Bride makes it all look--and sound--easy. On Backstage Pass, we meet this wonderful performer and teacher, and get a lesson in Harp 101.
Backstage Pass, a live radio program broadcast from WXXI's Studio E, is dedicated to spotlighting the arts in Rochester and is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation.
