Mrs. Howard’s Baked Cabbage
Baby, it's cold outside! But don't fear, Mrs. Howard's Baked Cabbage will warm you right up. Submitted by Jeanie Sharp, and featured on Let's Dish December 30, 2009. 1 1/2 cup white sauce
1/4 lb. Longhorn cheese, grated
5 cup Cabbage coarsely cut
1/4 lb. Process cheese, shredded
1 1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup cornflakes

Prepare White sauce. Salt and cook the cabbage until barely tender. Drain well. Grease a baking dish. Alternate a layer of cabbage, a layer of grated cheese, and a layer of white sauce. Top with a layer of cheese and sprinkle with cornflake crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees until heated through and the cheese is golden brown, approximately 40 minutes. Serves 6

White Sauce
2 Tbsp. Margarine
2 Tbsp. Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 cup milk

Melt butter in small saucepan. Add flour, stirring until mixture froths. Take off heat and add milk, whisking to combine. Return to heat and cook, stirring until mixture boils and thickens. Add salt. Pepper may be added if desired
