Abington Heights Senior is WVIA's Artist of the Week PITTSTON, PA (wvia) - Abington Heights High School senior Seth Oravec is WVIA-TV's Artist of the Week for the week of Jan. 11. Now in its sixth year, the Artist of the Week program focuses on outstanding visual and musical talents of local high school students in 29 school districts in northeastern and the central Susquehanna region of Pennsylvania.

District art teachers and principals nominate each of the students who are then featured in 90-second video spots that are run throughout their designated week on WVIA-TV and on wvia.org.

"It's wonderful to see the incredible talent of these students," said Andrea O'Neill, WVIA's director of education. "WVIA is proud to offer an avenue for these students to showcase their talents."

This week's featured artist, Seth Oravec, is a senior at Abington Heights High School. Seth was born in California, but moved to Waverly when he was 5 years old. His passion for art began during his junior year when he was assigned to paint a portrait of a friend. Prior to this assignment Seth was not fond of painting, but it has quickly become one of his favorite hobbies.

When Seth is not spending time in the art rooms of his high school he can usually be found playing volleyball. He is a fourth year varsity letter player on the Abington Heights volleyball team.
