Our Town Carbondale Documentary Premieres April 18 on WVIA-TV PITTSTON, PA (wvia) - "Our Town Carbondale", the seventh edition of WVIA's "Our Town" documentary series premieres Wednesday, April 18 at 8 p.m. on WVIA TV.

The start of the Industrial Revolution in America lies buried deep within the veins of Carbondale's anthracite past. Today, endurance, resiliency and commitment flow through the veins of the people of Carbondale as they look to the future with a renewed spirit of optimism and hope.

Meet the extraordinary people of Lackawanna County's "Pioneer City" and see through their eyes why Carbondale is their life, their legacy and their home as WVIA presents "Our Town Carbondale," produced in partnership with The Carbondale News.

Residents from Carbondale, Pennsylvania volunteered their time to become videographers and storytellers for "Our Town: Carbondale". The residents narrowed down which landmarks, events and local stories the documentary would explore. Each subject was assigned to a volunteer to videotape and participants were then interviewed about why they chose to become involved.

As northeastern Pennsylvania's and the central Susquehanna valley's public television station serving a very large geographic area, the "Our Town" project was initiated in an effort to involve the communities and their residents with WVIA. The "Our Town" documentary series is intended to treat viewers to the many personalities, perspectives, and possibilities that local towns have to offer.

WVIA TV will rebroadcast "Our Town: Carbondale" on Wednesday, April 18 at 10 p.m. immediately following its premiere. Viewers can also watch the documentary on Saturday, April 21 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 at 1 p.m.
