WVIA to Broadcast the Award-Winning Documentary Christy Mathewson Day
(wvia) - WVIA will broadcast the award-winning documentary "Christy Mathewson Day - It's a great day for Factoryville" on Saturday, Aug 10 at 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug 11 at 3 p.m. and Monday, Aug 12 at 7 p.m. on WVIA-TV.

"Christy Mathewson Day" captures the spirit of Factoryville, Pennsylvania as they celebrate their most famous resident, Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson. Members of the community tell their own history of triumphs and adversities through the framework of the yearly celebration of their favorite son. Trying to always remember the past in their present, Factoryville is very much a nostalgic town yearning to make a mark on theirs and surrounding communities.

While "Christy Mathewson Day" is a film that captures the life of small-town America, it's also a story of admiration.

Mathewson was born in Factoryville in 1880. He was raised in the small community, went to school at the local college, Keystone Academy (now Keystone College), and eventually attended Bucknell University. Mathewson has been dead for over 80 years, but in this small town he's always been and will probably continue to be very much alive.

"Christy Mathewson Day" is a production of 23 Circles Productions located in Philadelphia, PA. The film was an Official Selection at the Baseball Film Festival in Cooperstown, New York, received Honorable Mention in the Best Documentary Feature category at the DIY Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA, and won the 2012 Best Doc Feature at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood.
