Committee Members meet to Discuss 2013 Armed Forces Day Parade in downtown Scranton on May 18

(wvia) - Committee members meet on Thursday, May 9, 2013 to discuss the 2013 Armed Forces Day Parade that will be held on Saturday, May 18 starting at 11 a.m. in downtown Scranton.

Committee members include Ben Payavis (WVIA-TV), Pete Krenitsky (VFW Post 6082), Christine Pierce (55th Brigade), Joe Severini (Victory Committee), Tammy Maslowski (55th Brigade), Joe Sylvester (Armed Forces Committee), Mike Konzman (55th Brigade), Jim Wintermantle (Parade Committee), Tom Brunton (Parade Committee), and Lou Nowle (Armed Forces Committee).

The Armed Forces Day Parade honors the men and women who have served in the nation's armed services and those who are currently active in serving our country. The parade features military units, American Legion and VFW members from area posts, local Boy Scout troops and high school marching bands, and many more groups and organizations that support those who protect our country.

Starting at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 the parade will be broadcast in its entirety on WVIA-TV to all of northeastern Pennsylvania and the Central Susquehanna Valley.

The 2013 Armed Forces Day Parade broadcast is being produced by Via Studios Global, a division of WVIA Public Media.
