Celebrating 125 years of the St. Joseph's Center on the next all-new State of Pennsylvania on WVIA
(2013-05-02)
(wvia) - Join us as we celebrate 125 years of the St. Joseph's Center in Scranton on the next all-new live State of Pennsylvania Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. on WVIA TV.

In 1888 the prevailing attitude was that the young, old, poor, or abandoned were themselves the cause of their plight; and so responsible for freeing themselves from their circumstances. This was the backdrop against which a small group of women came together to talk about the problem of deserted orphans in the city of Scranton; that led eventually to the founding of St. Joseph's Center.

Joining Host Erika Funke on this special program are Sister Maryalice Jacquinot, IHM, president and CEO of St. Joseph's Center, Attorney Joseph Price, board president of St. Joseph's Center, and Sister Terry O'Rouke, IHM, president of Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and former president and CEO of St. Joseph's Center.

To be part of WVIA's live audience for this special State of Pennsylvania in the Sordoni High Definition Theater at the WVIA studios in Pittston, PA call (570) 602-1150 or visit wvia.org to reserve your free seats.

An encore presentation of this episode of State of Pennsylvania can be seen on Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. on WVIA TV.

This program will also be available on the WVIA On Demand channel located at http://on-demand.wvia.org/program/state-pennsylvania/.
