WVIA TV to Broadcast Armed Forces Day Parade Live from downtown Scranton on May 18

(wvia) - WVIA-TV is proud to broadcast the 2013 Armed Forces Day Parade on Saturday, May 18, 2013 starting at 11:30 a.m. live from downtown Scranton.

Display the flag and join us on Armed Forces Day as we honor the men and women who have served in the nation's armed services and those who are currently active in serving our country. The parade features military units, American Legion and VFW members from area posts, local Boy Scout troops and high school marching bands, and many more groups and organizations that support those who protect our country.

The parade concludes the celebration of Armed Forces Week which begins on Monday, May 13 with a proclamation from the city of Scranton and Lackawanna County.

The week's activities also include an Armed Forces Luncheon on Wednesday, May 15 at 12 p.m. at St. Mary's Center in Scranton. The main speaker will be Col. Gerhard P.R. Schroter. For more information on the luncheon please contact Joe Sylvester at (570) 96l-2696.
