(wvia) - WVIA invites Jim Thorpe residents to the "Our Town Jim Thorpe" documentary film preproduction/wipe-board meeting Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall located on East 10th Street in Jim Thorpe.

At the pre-production/wipe-board meeting, residents from Jim Thorpe will discuss which landmarks, events and local stories the program should explore. WVIA will answer questions about the project during the meeting and ask volunteer videographers and/or storytellers to narrow the list of subjects and events to videotape. WVIA hopes to recruit 20 to 25 area residents with personal camcorders.

Resident videographers will then set off to videotape their pre-determined stories. They will have until Saturday, October 20, 212 when their memory cards or videotapes filled with stories of Jim Thorpe are due to WVIA. The footage will then be used to make the "Our Town Jim Thorpe" documentary.

Anyone interested in being a videographer and/or storyteller for the documentary should contact WVIA Our Town producer, Lisa Mazzarella, at 570-602-1164 or by e-mailing lisamazzarella@wvia.org.

"Our Town Jim Thorpe" will be WVIA's eleventh edition of its "Our Town" documentary series. The one-hour video scrapbook will focus on the people, places and happenings of Jim Thorpe, PA., as seen through the eyes of its residents. "Our Town Jim Thorpe" will premiere on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 7 p.m. on WVIA TV.

As northeastern Pennsylvania's and the Central Susquehanna Valley's public television station serving a very large geographic area, the "Our Town" project was initiated in an effort to involve the communities and their residents with WVIA. The "Our Town" documentary series is intended to treat viewers to the many personalities, perspectives, and possibilities that local towns have to offer.
