Multiple WVIA-TV Signals Now Available to Over-the-Air Viewers in the Greater Williamsport Area
(2012-09-17)
(wvia) - Viewers in the greater Williamsport area who receive their television signal over-the-air via an antenna can now receive 3 different over-the-air channels from WVIA-TV.

Through a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, WVIA purchased and installed a television translator on Skyline Drive that allows viewers who never received WVIA TV to now enjoy programming offered by their local PBS affiliate.

In addition to the high definition signal of WVIA-TV 44.1, over-the-air viewers also receive 2 additional digital television channels. Digital channel 44.2 features local programming such as State of PA, Call the Doctor and Northeastern Pennsylvania Business Journal, plus encore presentations of PBS and PBS Kids programming, while digital channel 44.3 features programming from the PBS Create Network.

Viewers should consult the owner's manual for their digital converter box or televisions to learn how to rescan their device to receive all three WVIA channels.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967, is the steward of the federal government's investment in public broadcasting. It helps support the operations of more than 1,300 locally-owned and -operated public television and radio stations nationwide, and is the largest single source of funding for research, technology, and program development for public radio, television and related online services.
