(wvia) - On Sunday, August 3, 2010 WVIA presented Drs. Joseph and Rose Mattioli, founders and owners of Pocono Raceway, with a 2010 Bronze Telly Award. The statuette was awarded to WVIA for outstanding achievement for the WVIA biographical film, Dr. Joseph Mattioli: Always Moving Forward, which premiered in November 2009.

The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition and receives over 11,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries.

Dr. Joseph Mattioli: Always Moving Forward is a one-hour WVIA original documentary film, written, edited and directed by Kris Hendrickson, that celebrates the life and accomplishments of Dr. Joseph Mattioli, from his humble beginnings in the rural coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania to becoming an incredible businessman, all the while living life by two rules: always do what you love and always move forward. The impact of Dr. Joseph Mattioli's Pocono Raceway has gone far beyond the world of auto racing to become an economic and social center of Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains region.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

Dr. Joseph Mattioli: Always Moving Forward was the sixth in the Great Pennsylvanians series produced by WVIA Public Media to recognize individuals from northeastern Pennsylvania whose achievements bring honor to all Americans and who are models for young people. Previous documentaries presented the life stories of former Governor William Warren Scranton, United States Federal Judges Max Rosenn and William J. Nealon, Monsignor Andrew McGowan and Pennsylvania Ballet founder Barbara Weisberger.
