Tunkhannock to be Focus of WVIA's "Our Town" Series - Volunteers Needed
Community members from the Tunkhannock area are invited to attend a volunteer planning meeting to learn about the project. The meeting will be held at the Wyoming County Cultural Center at the Dietrich Theater, 60 E. Tioga Street at 5pm on Thursday, July 29th at 5 p.m.
At the meeting, residents from Tunkhannock will discuss which landmarks, events and local stories the program should tell about their town. WVIA will answer questions about the project during the meeting and ask volunteers to brainstorm a list of subjects and events to videotape. The volunteers will later videotape the footage around Tunkhannock with the help of WVIA to create the documentary. WVIA hopes to recruit 20 to 25 area residents with personal camcorders.
According to "Our Town" producer, Lisa Mazzarella, "the greatest testimonial about the history and character of a town comes from the residents who know it best. Through their stories, observations, and their video a tremendous pride is generated in the truest, most genuine manner. Couple that with the fact Tunkhannock has some wonderful stories to share, and the end result is not only a tribute to the area--but to the people who make Tunkhannock such a great place to live."
Anyone interested in being a videographer and/or storyteller for the program should contact WVIA "Our Town" producer, Lisa Mazzarella, at 570-602-1164 or by e-mailing lisamazzarella@wvia.org.
