The City of Tallassee will hold it's annual Tallassee Event, Treasure on the Tallapoosa, on June 14. A Call for Quilts is being issued. We are requesting that people with quilts consider entering them in the Quilt Show. Newly made quilts (last 5 years - have not won a major competition) in both hand pieced and quilted, and machine pieced and quilted will be able to compete in their own categories. In addition, we hold a quilt show for antique quilts with their own stories each year and will award the viewers favorite out of these as well. Quilts can be picked up after the event (3 pm) on June 14. You may submit your quilt to Marilyn Sayers in the Mayor's office at City Hall between June 1 and 7. There will be a reception for the participants, judges and general public on June 13 from 3:00 - 5 pm. Ann Bentley, Governor's wife and quilter herself will be one of the judges. This event has attracted a lot of attention and many quilts before, and we look forward to a wonderful turnout! Please share your work with us, and come to see the collection. For further information, you may contact Marilyn Durham, Coordinator at 334-252-0883.
