Katharine Lyall is retired as President of the University of Wisconsin System. She oversaw the system and its four-billion dollar budget for 12 years, from 1992 to 2004. She talked with Dan Harmon from Pasadena, California about the book she co-authored, The True Genius of America at Risk: Are We Losing Our Public Universities to De Facto Privatization? He co-edited a collection of writing about welfare reform with Lawrence Mead, Professor of Politics at New York University. The book is called Welfare Reform and Political Theory.
