Teachers gather for conference MILWAUKEE (wuwm) - Thousands of teachers from throughout Wisconsin are in Milwaukee this week for an education conference. It's organized by the Wisconsin Education Association Council, or WEAC, the largest teachers' union in the state. The convention features more than 100 workshops on all sorts of issues, including how to get students to love writing, how to create new-age schools for girls, and even how teachers should plan for their retirement. WUWM's Erin Toner spoke today with WEAC President Mary Bell, who gave the opening address at the convention Thursday morning.
