New chief arrives on heels of violent weekend
(2007-11-26)
MILWAUKEE
(wuwm) -
It was another violent weekend in Milwaukee. One man died and several were injured in separate shootings. The issue is likely to dominate meetings this week when Milwaukee's new police chief, Edward Flynn of Springfield, Mass., comes to town. UWM Criminal Justice Professor Will Pelfrey says one reason Flynn got the job is that he's an expert on criminal justice research. Pelfrey told WUWM's Erin Toner that Flynn will likely draw from programs that have worked in other cities to fight violence here.
