Dr. Frederick Nelson, adjunct professor, UWM Geography Dept., will present a talk "Many Are Cold, But Few Are Frozen: Permafrost and Life in the North" in the Golda Meir Library on Friday, Jan. 31.

Prof. Nelson has spent more than 30 years researching the impact of global warming on permafrost in the Arctic. He was a member of the working groups with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore, and served as President of the U.S. Permafrost Association.
