New Ways to Protect Ports
(2008-08-28)
(WUSF) - A variety of vessels have been lurking the past week in the waters of Bayboro Harbor, just off downtown St. Petersburg. They're described as the cutting edge in port security - unmanned minesweepers and remotely-operated vehicles that track and detonate acoustic and magnetic underwater mines.

The simulations were part of a plan to develop prototypes that can be used by the Navy at both U.S. ports and in the open water.
