Gotti Jr. Indicted in Tampa
TAMPA
(WUSF) -
Tampa soon will be the setting for the trial of John Gotti Jr., the son of the former Gambino Crime Family boss. Federal authorities unsealed an indictment charging "Junior" Gotti and five others with a wide range of crimes as they tried to gain a "foothold" in the bay area.
The U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida is charging John Gotti Jr. with conspiracy that links him to cocaine trafficking and three murders in New York.
The indictment, in part, stems from evidence revealed during a 2006 racketeering trial in Tampa.
Five other men were charged in a related indictment that alleges criminal acts such as "shootings, stabbings, baseball bat beatings and murder designed to create and maintain fear."
