Mortgage Reform on the Way
TAMPA
(WUSF) -
Florida ranks second in the nation in foreclosure rates, but help is coming. A bill passed by Congress this week is expected to provide relief for borrowers and more accountability for mortgage lenders.
Helping families with mortgage troubles and lowering foreclosure rates is Congresswoman Kathy Castor's focus.
She says the reform bill will provide mortgage refinancing, lower loan fees and offer tax breaks to kick start home buying.
But most importantly for Castor, it will increase regulation of the housing market and weed out fraud.
