"Waterdome" Returns to Florida Southern LAKELAND (WUSF) - It's the the first new Frank Lloyd Wright building to rise from Florida Southern College in half a century. But in a sense, it will be a re-christening of an old design that never really worked.

It's called the Waterdome. The circular fountain was first built in the 1940s, but the water pumps constantly broke down. And there was a problem with algae building up from the Florida sun. So a little more than a decade later, it was broken up into three smaller ponds and stocked with fish.

But technology has advanced to the point where engineers can build Wright's vision.
