Championship Park or Field of Dreams? TAMPA (WUSF) - County Commissioner Jim Norman's plan is called Championship Park. It would at first include 30 multi-use fields, 12 baseball fields and 10 softball fields. And plans would include hotels and restaurants in an area where they're not permitted now.

The park would be built on the Cone Ranch, a county-owned wellfield. Backers say it would pay for itself, and there's a critical need for more ball fields. Critics say since the county has cut several programs, it's not the right time for a $40 million project.
