Robotic Surgery
Cheryl Jordan is a doctor of family medicine in Stuart, and underwent a hysterectomy through robotic surgery. That was 16 days ago. Sunday night, she walked three miles. Her husband, Steven Jordan, does arthroscopic surgery. He demonstrated the Da Vinci system by peeling a grape - remotely.
"With the precision of the machine, it's a more precise movement," he says. "Every little micro-millmeter is much more precise than the human hand could do. Whereas the machine is very precise - we're just moving our fingers, and we're accomplishing this grape peeling. We've never done this before."
